Monitor Program to monitor few processes

Environment

SFHA = 6.1.1

Cluster Nodes = 2

OS = RHEL 5.9

My application resource is working fine and I am monitoring the application resource via monitor process. In case of those processes failed, failover is executing successfully.

Query

The same application also have some other non critical processes. In case of these non critical processes failure, I dont want to execute failover. However I want to get notification alerts. For this I assume that I should use Monitor Program, so incase of failure of those non critical processes(Marked as critical in a separate service group), the separate application resource can be faulted and I can get email notifications.

0xe0008442 Oracle Linux Backup Fails

Hello friends,
I have a situation with the Oracle backups on a Linux server. The backup process fails with the following error:
V-79-57344-33858 - A memory allocation request failed. The computer May be running low on virtual memory.
I clarify that both the Backup Exec server (WS 2008) and the Oracle server (RedHat 6) have 5GB of RAM and 15GB of swap. So it seems weird to run out of virtual memory.
The version of Backup Exec server / client I am using is the 2014 14.2.1180.2621 FP-4
Can somebody help me?

RPC over HTTP detection

I need a solution

I have implemented EV 12.0.1 to archive email in an Exchange 2013 scenario. Most end users use Outlook 2016. When a user is outside the corporate network the Vault add-in does not detect RPC over HTTP is enabled even though Outlook Anywhere is in use, and so the HTTP connection to the internal alias FQDN fails.

Current config:

Ev client log: RPC over HTTP is not enabled (flags =0)

Add-in Information: HTTP connection failed: http://evserver1.internaldomain.local/EnterpriseVault (Status: 0x12)

Desktop policy settings:

  • RPC over HTTP connection: Use proxy
  • RPC over HTTP Proxy URL: HTTPS://vault.publicdomain.com/EnterpriseVault
  • RPC over HTTP restricitons: Disable PST Import
  • Use proxy settings: Ignore proxy settings

Please assist.

In Outlook 2016 i cannot configure RPC over HTTP proxy settings. Is there a way i can force the add-in to assume RPC over HTTP is being used?

Everything backed up on local drive, Pending Network.

I need a solution

Hi

I've just installed DLO agent on two Windows 10 clients.  Everything is getting backup locally on the client but nothing on the network share.  I can access the network share and copy and paste a file.    The status is saying “Pending Network”

I’m running DLO 8.0 SP3

Any ideas?

VMware backup issue

Hi All, We have almost 170+ vmhosts under vcenter, here few servers having RDM Luns where backup is failing with 156 as you guys know snap shot creation won't happen, our client selection is set to automatic where all the hosts will be selected for back in the script, here is there any way to exclude these few servers from VMware backup? I cannot keep server in offline state as we are backing up servers with client installed on them. 2. If we select the client script manually I could able to exclude these problematic servers, but here when ever new hosts are added vm team won't confirm us where there is a chance to miss backups for those servers as per my knowledge, if I'm wrong please correct me where in manual script selection of new hosts are added those will automatically reflect with check box enabled.

EV 9.0.3 to 11.0.1 Upgrade

Hello All,

We are looking to upgrade our EV 9.0.3 installation to 11.0.1. We have purchase new hardware for this project and are going over our steps for testing this upgrade. I know that we will need to upgrade to 10.0.4 and then to 11.0.1. We have roughly 4TB of Vault Stores to upgrade and are wondering what is the best way to test it before rolling it into production. We are using Exchange 2010 SP2 and SQL 2008 R2 for the server end.

Selecting a key for hardware encryption?

I'm a little confused by the settings inside BE when it comes to hardware encryption. If you select that option, BE forces you to specify an encryption key from its own key inventory. My tape libraries/drives already have encryption keys which they manage separately/internally, so I don't quite see the point to selecting Hardware Encryption in BE and then designating a key from there.

So long as encryption is enabled on the tape devices, my understanding is that the hardware encryption will be performed regardless of the setting in BE. Would the correct settings then be to enable hardware compression (if desired) in BE and leave the encryption setting at None? Thoughts?

VSS Error

I need a solution

BE 15 backing up hyper-v host (2012 R2 core) and guests (exchange 2013, sql 2014, SCOM 2012 R2, remote desktop services 2012 R2 and a SLES 12). I have the agent 14.x installed on the host and all guests. On this particular backup job, i get an error in the job log:

V-79-40960-38521 - Snapshot Technology: Initialization failure on: "VRTSRV::\\2012R2Core0.electrichendrix.com\Hyper-V?Virtual?Machine\SQL02". Snapshot technology used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
A virtual machine snapshot could not be created.  Use the Event Viewer on the Hyper-V host to identify the cause.  If the virtual machine is not properly configured, it may be necessary to use the Event Viewer in the virtual machine to identify the cause.
The following volumes are dependent on resource: "C:" .
The snapshot technology used by VSS for volume C: - Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0 (Version 1.0.0.7).

If i follow the link from that kob error and run VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS:

Writer name: 'SqlServerWriter'
   Writer Id: {a65faa63-5ea8-4ebc-9dbd-a0c4db26912a}
   Writer Instance Id: {d3c1073a-aa20-4e60-b197-f7508205b110}
   State: [8] Failed
   Last error: Inconsistent shadow copy 

and VSSADMIN LIST PROVIDERS comes back fine. Here is the error from the event log on the vm host:

event id 18012:

Checkpoint operation for 'SQL02' failed. (Virtual machine ID 39C03464-FD21-4319-BF17-7EF6FA7452F6 

then id 10150:

Could not create backup checkpoint for virtual machine 'SQL02': The shadow-copy set only contains only a subset of the volumes needed to correctly backup the selected components of the writer. (0x800423F0). (Virtual machine ID 39C03464-FD21-4319-BF17-7EF6FA7452F6) 

then id 10172:

VSS writers inside virtual machine 'SQL02' failed to perform BackupComplete to its shadow copy (VSS snapshot) set: The shadow-copy set only contains only a subset of the volumes needed to correctly backup the selected components of the writer. (0x800423F0). (Virtual machine ID 39C03464-FD21-4319-BF17-7EF6FA7452F6) 

then id 16010:

The operation failed. 

then id 10172:

VSS writers inside virtual machine 'SQL02' failed to perform BackupComplete to its shadow copy (VSS snapshot) set: Catastrophic failure (0x8000FFFF). (Virtual machine ID 39C03464-FD21-4319-BF17-7EF6FA7452F6) 

Anyone have any ideas how to get this job backing up again?

SSR 2013 Server Edition, Changing password every three months on over 100 servers...

Hello

We are using SSR 2013 R2 Server edition, with latest patch. On over 100 psihical servers with Windows Server 2012 R2, spreaded on all continents.

My main issue with SSR is that every three (3) months, due to sercurity reasons, we change the password to the account used to authentificate on SSR.

I cannot copy-paste the password! So i have to do it manual twice on each server, for each task.

Is time consuming, and have other things to do.

Is there a solution to this, did i miss something?

EV 10.0.4; Partitions stuck in mark for deletion

Hi all.

We want to delete the whole VSG.
The VSG contain 2 VS with 2 Partititions.

All archives are deleted as we see in VAC, SQL-Query and DTrace. We get this Information for both VS:
(StorageDelete) <13344> EV:L  CDeleteVault::DeleteVaultStore Information: No archives found for vaultStoreEntryId = [EDIT: correct ID]

But we found SIS-Parts in all 4 Partititions. Just a few:
(StorageDelete) <13344> EV:L CDeleteVault::PartitionContainsSisParts Information: Total [4] SISParts found in FPCDB for VaultStoreGroupIdentity = [1]
(StorageDelete) <13344> EV:L CDeleteVault::PartitionContainsSisParts Information: Total [1] SISParts found in FPCDB for VaultStoreGroupIdentity = [1]
979 07:52:35.972  [20744] (StorageDelete) <13344> EV:L  CDeleteVault::DeleteVaultStore Information: Found a non-empty Partition with EntryId = [EDIT: correct ID] for vaultStoreEntryId = [EDIT: correct ID]

How it's possible to delete the SIS-Parts. Idea was to us EVSVR and DeleteSurPlusReference, but the VS are marked for deletion and it's neccessary to set the VS in BackupMode for DeleteSurPlusReference:

Operation: Repair
Option:    Delete Surplus References

Vault Store 'EDIT: correct Name' is not in a Read Only state.
The Vault Store is not in Backup Mode. Please set the Vault Store in Backup Mode.

Any ideas?

Netbackup 7.7.2 Live upgrade

Hello 

I would like to update out Netbackup env to latest 7.7.2. we are running on 7.7.1 master on linux server with linux and windows as clients. we are planning to upgrade on coming Tuesday. we almost have around 1200 clients. 

I belive live update would be best option to kick the clients to latest 7.7.2.

Do we have a link to download 7.7.2 live update files.

Admittedly, this may be a stupid question.  I was recently tasked with updating/using a Clearwell appliance for which no one has any of the passwords (including the Windows Server 2008 R2 password).  Any help with this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Can't see Exchange 2016?

Upgraded my BE to the latest version 15 that's available. We recently brought two new exchange 2016 servers up and I'm trying to back them up with BE. BE Agent is installed. When I go to back them up, I only see the two volumes on each server. I do not see any Exchange specific references like I do with our Exchange 2010 server.  What am I missing/why can't I back up these 2016 Exchange servers?

NBU 772 - get_VM_names_VMware: get_vSphere_VMs succeeded, but no guest VMs were returned

Hi all

We have a NBU 7.7.2 standup on Windows 2012 R2 and we are having an issue being able to browse vCenter using our given credentials. When we go to browse to add VMs to the policy, we only get the vCenter named return but are not able to navigate past that point. We've tested using credentials that do work at other sites (where we are using NBU 7.6.1.2) and those same credentials work and we can browse / select VMs with no problem in this 772 standup.

Using credentials that work in NBU:

Using Credentials that do not work in NBU:

Yet using these same, exact crednetials that do not work in NBU, we can login using these same, exact crednetials to vCenter itself, see all of the VMs and even take a snapshot from within VC. 

We've tried adding the credietnals in NBU using just IP, short name and full name, all same issue; does not appear to be a name resoultion issue.

Any thoughts?

Controlling Replication Jobs

I need a solution

I'm trying to figure out how I can limit the number of replication jobs that will run at one time.  I'd like to make it so only 1 job is active at a time.  This is more to control the data going out the replication network interface then controlling load on the disk pool.  I have a pretty good feel for doing that with the concurrent writes in the STU and Limit I/O streams in the disk pool, and using an SLP window to force the replication to run outside of the backups.

The WAN connection we have is very slow, and it's not going to be changed, already tried to fight that battle.  I've already set the Max size of the job to 100GB, and max images to 50 to try and keep the jobs relatively small.  The disk resource multiplier is set to 2, not sure if that will do what I want anyway.  I'm open to any suggestions.

The NIC on the media server is 100Mb/s, and the WAN is 50Mb/s

NetBackup 7.6.1.2

Redhat Linux 6.7

Single server doing everyting.  Getting more memory added soon. (80GB, --> 128GB)

Cleanly remove appliance from NBU domain

I need a solution

Hello,

I need help to cleanly remove 5230 appliance configured as a media server from NBU domain.

Currently we have Windows based master server and 2 5230s as  media servers. One of the appliances is being used for backups and the other one strictly for duplications. I am trying to remove the second one and reconfigure it as a master in our DR site and use AIR for replication.

Hi All,

Greetings!

Anyone can help me regards with my problem? I just want to share the Deduplication disk from my Managed Backup Exec Server to my CASO. But every time I've clicking the "checkbox" as well as the "OK", the error message prompting. See the Picture below.

A recent job failed and said a "servername129.v2i" file was corrupt. I have 4 of these files on my system.

  1.  ServerName002_i001.iv2i
  2. ServerName127.iv2i
  3. ServerName128.iv2i
  4. ServerName129.iv2i

What are these files?
